چکیده

The cowpea weevil, Callosobruchus maculatus, is a major threat to stable production, especially in storage, and has been reported facilitate postharvest losses grains. Host resistance suggested as the best control method but with conflicting knowledge on source of resistance. Hence, study seeks evaluate seed storage proteins (SSPs) coat compounds (SCCs) associated tolerance C. maculatus. SSPs SCCs were assayed maculatus 19 varieties varied levels using stepwise multiple regression analysis. Top tolerants TVu-2027, TVu-11952, TVu-11953, TVu-145. protein fraction mass 51 kDa was significant predictor percentage adult insect emergence (PAE) host suitability index (H.S.I.), 57 71 mean development period (MDP) whereas 59 131 damage (TolSD). Several identified tolerant measures used study. However, Thiazole, tetrahydro- Undecane consistently tolerance. Higher phenotypic variability accounted for by SCC than SSP fractions indicating that contributed more identified. These can be incorporated into breeding biopesticide formulations high or amount these also recommended farmers producers.

A role for seed storage proteins in Arabidopsis seed longevity

Proteomics approaches have been a useful tool for determining the biological roles and functions of individual proteins and identifying the molecular mechanisms that govern seed germination, vigour and viability in response to ageing. In this work the dry seed proteome of four Arabidopsis thaliana genotypes, that carry introgression fragments at the position of seed longevity quantitative trait...

Seed storage proteins: structures and biosynthesis.

The plant seed is not only an organ of propagation and dispersal but also the major plant tissue harvested by humankind. The amount of protein present in seeds varies from -10% (in cereals) to -40% (in certain legumes and oilseeds) of the dry weight, forming a major source of dietary protein. Although the vast majority of the individual proteins present in mature seeds have either metabolic or ...

Comparative Analysis of Phenolic Composition and Antioxidant Effect of Seed Coat Extracts of Four Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) Varieties on Broiler Meat

Seed coat crude extracts of white-coloured ITA-256, white and brown-coloured TVS-716, deep brown-coloured IT-90K and light brown-coloured Ife brown cowpea varieties were analyzed for the presence and amount of total phenol, tannin and flavonoid content. Crude extracts of the cowpea varieties were analyzed for antioxidant activity using the Thiobarbituric Acid (TBA) assay. The seed coat extracts...
